The State Department said Stephen Biegun, the State Department's special representative for North Korea policy, traveled to Hanoi, Vietnam, on Tuesday to continue preparations for the second summit between US President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, to be held in Hanoi next week.
Bigan called his talks in North Korea "fruitful", but there was still "hard work to do" before the summit.
Asked if the United States was considering lifting sanctions against North Korea, Palladino said: "We have made it clear about sanctions. This is the sanction that the world has imposed, and... will continue until we achieve the final result of a comprehensive, final and verifiable denuclearization.
However, he added: "But I don't want to say... more details about what consultations are going on around this issue."
