Hyundai said it would lay off its employees in a joint venture in China

Hyundai Motor Co. of Korea (005380.KS) said Friday that joint ventures in China are accepting voluntary retirement of their employees, resulting in a sharp drop in pre-sales.
"Hyundai is evaluating various optimization schemes to improve plant efficiency around the Spring Festival holiday," the company said in a statement.
