Malaysia's government said Monday that it had filed criminal proceedings against Goldman Sachs (GS.N) and two former Goldman Sachs employees for corruption and money laundering involving state-owned fund One-horse Development (1MDB).
Goldman Sachs was investigated for its involvement in helping 1MDB issue bonds to raise funds. MDB fraud has been investigated in at least six countries.
Malaysia's Attorney General Tommy Thomas said Monday that Goldman Sachs, Tim Leissner and Roger Ng, former Goldman Sachs employees, Jasmine Loo, former MDB employees and Malaysian businessman Lau Tezo were prosecuted for criminal offences under the Malaysian Securities Act.
