At a closed-door security conference held in Singapore on Thursday, one of the hot topics discussed was the arrest of an executive of Huawei, a Chinese technology giant, and the potential rebound faced by American companies operating in China.
Two people familiar with the meeting said that executives from some large U.S. companies attended the meeting and expressed concern that U.S. companies and their executives might be retaliated. The meeting was originally planned by the local branch of the State Department's Overseas Security Advisory Committee (OSAC).
Many participants said that their companies were considering limiting unnecessary trips to China and changing some conference venues outside China, according to one of the above-mentioned people.
According to a post posted by a source and a participant on LinkedIn, security executives from companies such as Walt Disney (DIS.N) (DIS.N), Alphabet (GOOGL.O), Google, Facebook (FB.O) and PayPal Holdings (PYPL.O) attended the meeting.
