U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin dismissed concerns that China's slowdown could spill over to other emerging markets and destabilize U.S. financial markets.
"I am not worried that it will undermine the stability of our market." When he visited Reuters, he said.
"Generally speaking, I do not see the risk of spread at the moment." He said.
China's GDP growth in the third quarter fell to 6.5% year-on-year, below the median forecast of 6.6% in a Reuters poll and the lowest since the first quarter of 2009, according to data released on Friday by the Bureau of Statistics.
In recent months, the US and China have imposed tariffs on each other. The trade negotiation plan to solve the friction between the two sides is also stagnant.
