      U.S. Treasury Secretary Noochin said Saturday that Chinese officials told him this week that further depreciation of the renminbi was not in China's interest.
He also said at a news conference that China's possible selling of US debt at a time of rising trade tensions between the United States and China did not keep him awake at night.
"We had a fruitful dialogue and they stressed to me that it was not in their interest to continue to devalue the renminbi," Noochin said at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank annual meeting in Bali, Indonesia.
"As I said, the exchange rate issue is an important issue in trade for us, and we will make it an integral part of trade negotiations. We will ensure that depreciation will not be used for competitive purposes. "
Earlier, Nutchin expressed concern that the renminbi had fallen near a 10-year low against the dollar, and the Treasury Department was about to release a much-anticipated report on currency manipulation.
 
Nuchin said the United States has not yet decided whether President Trump will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G20 summit in Argentina at the end of November.
"If we can make progress towards the talks, then I will encourage that, which we are discussing. There is no precondition, and the president will decide. "
